A 9-1-1 Dispatcher in Houston, Texas has been sentenced to 10 days in jail and 18 months of probation after she simply hung up on emergency calls about robberies and murder according to the BBC. 44-year-old Crenshanda Williams who had worked at 9-1-1 for a year and a half told investigators that she hung up on callers because she simply didn’t want to talk to them any longer.
That negative attitude didn’t set well with authorities who charged her. Assistant District Attorney Lauren Reeder said, “Citizens rely on 911 operators to dispatch help in their time of need. When a public servant betrays the community’s trust and breaks the law, we have a responsibility to hold them criminally accountable.”
